The Épinal agglomeration
Gathering 78 municipalities and 116,000 inhabitants, the Épinal Agglomeration Community is a significant actor in the Grand Est region. Among its assets, the agglomeration is particularly attractive for its quality of life.
A true playground and discovery area for cycling enthusiasts, the destination allows everyone to practice cycling in a diverse environment: deciduous or coniferous forests, along the Canal des Vosges, rives de Moselle… And for thrill-seekers, you’ll find woodland slopes, pink sandstone rocks, fir tree roots, and a variety of paths, sometimes rocky, sometimes sandy, for a surprising and varied program.
The destination ranks among the top five largest sites in France with a wide range of cycling routes, in the forest or on bike paths, to discover a rich heritage and landscapes. Mountain bikers, cyclists, road cyclists, BMX enthusiasts… each finds the ideal playground and suitable facilities.
With 1,400 km of MTB between countryside and forest, a 75 km bike path “La Voie Bleue”, and 500 km of marked trails, the destination positions itself as the cycling capital of Eastern France.
As a driving force in mobility, the Épinal Agglomeration Community offers its residents various options to promote cycling: financial assistance for bike purchases, long-term rentals, or nearly 80 self-service stations for free movement 24/7.
The City
As the capital of the Vosges department, Épinal, traversed by the Moselle, boasts a population of 32,000 inhabitants, making it the fourth largest city in Lorraine. Located near urban centers like Nancy, Metz, Strasbourg, with access to 4 international airports, and at the crossroads of European trade, industrial, and tourist routes, the city of images is just a 2h15 TGV ride from Paris.
Renowned as the capital of wood and images, Épinal stands out for its inspiring natural setting where water and forests abound. The city is situated less than an hour from the mountains, lakes, and ski resorts of the Hautes Vosges (La Bresse, Gérardmer, La Schlucht). It is connected to lac de Bouzey by a 13 km bike path that follows the Vosges Canal to the river port.
The Region
The Region encourages all forms of cycling on its territory.
Thanks to the Plan Vélo, it encourages the use of soft mobility on a daily basis, through the financing of equipment and infrastructure in the regions, multimodal transport services and aid for the purchase of bicycles.
With 2,500 kilometers of tourist itineraries, the Region aims to become France’s leading cycling region, and to pedal on a national and international scale.
